BRINGING ARTISTS AND AUDIENCES TOGETHER
DESPITE THE DISTANCE
The Boston New Music Festival showcases Boston's vibrant contemporary music scene. It was founded and is facilitated biennially by Juventas New Music Ensemble.
In light of COVID, we are re-envisioning the Boston New Music Festival in a new virtual format. The 2020 Virtual Boston New Music Festival (vBNMF) will run from October 29 - November 15, 2020. While the virtual format is disappointing in some ways, it also offers new opportunities. Boston has one of the most vibrant contemporary music scenes in the country and one of the goals of the festival has always been to share this under-told story. This year's virtual format will for the first time allow a global audience to immerse themselves in our city's music scene. In a time when people can't be together physically, we also believe that vBNMF will offer a much needed opportunity for Boston’s local ensembles to come together and support one another during this challenging time, creating a stronger community of music making that will extend far beyond the end of the current crisis.
2020 vBNMF Ensemble Lineup:
Charles River Wind Ensemble, Fen Percussion Duo, Guerilla Opera, Jamaica Plain Saxophone Quartet, Juventas New Music Ensemble, New England Philharmonic, New Gallery Concert Series, New School of Music - Cindy Giron, Now Musique - Aaron Larget-Caplan, Pharos Quartet, Radius Ensemble, Rasa String Quartet, The Boston New Music Initiative, and Triage Contemporary Winds.
